We currently hold a contract with the HSE for all doctors at the surgery to provide free GP care for patients aged 70 years or over (who are ordinarily resident in Ireland). From 5th August 2015 this scheme is regardless of income.
All people aged 70 years or over who do not already have a full Medical Card or GP Visit card can register to access this service. You can register online* at www.gpvisitcard.ie or alternatively you may collect an application form from the surgery. In order to register, you will need your own PPS number and that of your spouse or partner if applicable, together with your contact details.
Once your registration is complete a GP Visit Card will be posted to the address provided, usually within a few days.
The GP Visit Card entitles you to free GP visits, home visits where deemed necessary by the doctor in the case of an emergency and the out-of-hours urgent GP care services is also covered.
The GP Visit Card does not cover the cost of medications prescribed by the doctor.
